Symposium wrap and onward
Hello Chickadees!
Wow, there has been so much happening, I'm hanging onto the ledge of it willing strength into finger grips.
First...SFU's Symposium on the Book was beyond fantastic! Each of the six authors--William Deverell, Anne Emery, Dan Kalla, Linda L Richards (she is a riot, by the way--so fun!), Michael Slade, and yours truly--gave chats on a subject related to crime fiction in Canada. Following each chat there was a response from one of the panelists: Margaret Cannon (G & M crime fiction columnist), Dinah Forbes (McClelland and Stewart crime fiction editor), Walter Sinclair (Owner, Dead Write Books). The day was moderated by Mary Jane Maffini, author, and former prez of Crime Writers of Canada.
What a day! The talks and discussion were informative and thought provoking, and gosh, I can't remember a day when I laughed more often, or harder!!! I've said it before--crime writers are a fun bunch!
These pictures are from the Saturday evening cruise (plus following the cruise: a WOW super-cool truck, and window shopping). Five hours along the Vancouver Coast. Fantastic!

Other news...well, I suppose the biggest and best bit is that I will be the new YA editor at Great Plains Publications. Those who have known me for a while will remember that I was once marketing director there. I am so excited to be returning in this capacity!
